know that matching older wood moulding designs and cuts of lumber
are critical to the look of the finished product. Its
not all in just a shape of a wood moulding either. To
produce a quality match, you must start with lumber of similar
high quality that is then and cured and stored
properly.
A house that has survived for 100
years or more was built with quality lumber by quality
craftsmen. But some of the lumber sizes that were used then
may have changed. Wood mouldings were cut from top quality
lumber, hand-milled, and turned into pieces of construction, not
just stamped out pieces of generic decoration. You won't
find matches to that kind of moulding at a high volume cash 'n
carry or "everything" store.
McGee Lumber Company has the
answer to what you are looking for. While nobody can do
everything, McGee Lumber Company starts with the basics like
choosing the right lumber and rejecting anything of inferior
quality. Quality lumber to us means more than just a
straight piece of wood.
The wood grain and types of
imperfections are only one consideration. How the lumber is
cured is critical to the long term
value of any piece of wood.
We select only the highest
quality lumber, rip it ourselves and then each piece is then
milled by mill experts with many years of experience. This
is done on machines that... well... they might have been around to
do the original work. You cannot get mill work that is any
closer to the original.
Every piece is then hand
inspected to make sure it is of McGee Lumber Company
quality. Quality control and hand inspection is crucial in
mill work.
